Tonga
The Polynesian kingdom of whales
Tonga, the only Pacific monarchy never colonised, is an unspoiled Polynesian archipelago of 170 islands. It is one of the few places on earth where you can swim with humpback whales, amid turquoise lagoons, deserted beaches and villages where tradition still rules. For a Cameroonian traveller the journey is very long and tourism stays intimate, but the reward is authentic, crowd-free Polynesia, where Sundays stop everything for rest and church. An end-of-the-world adventure.

How to apply
Tonga does not grant visa on arrival to Cameroonians: the application must be sent before departure to the Principal Immigration Officer in Nuku'alofa (Tonga Immigration Department). Provide a passport valid for at least 6 months, an application form, photos, a confirmed return ticket, proof of accommodation and proof of funds. Processing can be slow because it is handled remotely; keep your correspondence with the Tongan immigration service by email/fax.
