Tajikistan
The Tajik roof of the world, on the legendary Pamir Highway
Tajikistan, 93% mountainous, is one of Central Asia's great adventure playgrounds. The mythic Pamir Highway crosses lunar high plateaus above 4,000 m, hugs the Afghan border and links villages where hospitality remains untouched. Turquoise lakes, hot springs, the peaks of the Pamir range: this is a raw, still little-visited destination, made for travelers seeking wide-open space and silence.
