Syria
Cradle of civilizations in transition — extremely high-risk travel.
Syria holds a staggering heritage: the old city of Damascus, the Aleppo souk, the Krak des Chevaliers, the ruins of Palmyra. But honesty matters: since the late-2024 transition the country remains fragile and almost all governments advise against all travel to Syria, for any reason. Tourism is extremely limited and dangerous: security risks, explosive remnants of war, destroyed infrastructure. For Cameroonians the visa framework is unclear and shifting: the e-visa platform is not operational, and entry is mostly via visa on arrival by land (Lebanon/Jordan), paid in USD cash. This page is informational; it is not an encouragement to travel.
The visa, step by step
How to apply
Unstable, shifting situation. The official e-visa platform is NOT operational. In practice, entry is often by visa on arrival at land borders (from Lebanon or Jordan), with fees in USD cash; for a flight, airlines usually require prior approval. Research case by case and make NO decision without checking official advisories.
Required documents
- Passport valid ≥6 months WITHOUT any Israeli stamp or visa
- USD cash for entry fees
- Accommodation & itinerary
- Proof of funds
Good to know
- •Most governments advise against ALL travel to Syria: major security risks.
- •E-visa platform not operational; entry rules shifting and uncertain.
- •Any Israeli stamp/visa (or Israeli nationality) results in automatic refusal of entry.
