St. Vincent & Grenadines
Volcano, sailboats and the Caribbean's secret islands
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a string of volcanic islands in the heart of the Lesser Antilles, still spared from mass tourism. The main island, Saint Vincent, is crowned by the La Soufrière volcano and blanketed in rainforest; the Grenadines (Bequia, Mustique, Tobago Cays, Union Island) are a paradise for sailing, snorkelling and empty beaches. For a Cameroonian traveller used to heat and lush greenery, the real change of scenery comes from the turquoise sea and the Caribbean creole culture, laced with British influences. It is an intimate, slow destination for those who want authenticity over resorts.
