North Macedonia
A small Balkan country of mountains, lakes and Ottoman bazaars
North Macedonia is still an off-the-radar destination for Cameroonian travellers, but it holds lovely surprises: a statue-filled historic centre in Skopje, the stunning UNESCO-listed Lake Ohrid, Orthodox monasteries clinging to the mountains, and a generous cuisine blending Ottoman and Mediterranean flavours. It is affordable, safe and easy to cover in a week, perfect for a first taste of the Balkans without breaking the bank. The big plus for a Cameroonian passport: if you already hold a valid Schengen visa, you enter without a separate visa for 15 days.
