Namibia
Red dunes, endless desert and safari at Etosha.
Namibia is the quintessential African road trip: empty roads as far as the eye can see, the orange dunes of Sossusvlei, the petrified trees of Deadvlei, wildlife clustered at Etosha's waterholes and the misty coast of Swakopmund. A safe country easily explored by car (self-drive is king), it offers some of the continent's most spectacular landscapes, affordable for those who travel light.
