Montenegro
Fjords, mountains and the Adriatic
A small Balkan country of outsized beauty, Montenegro lines up within a few hours' drive Adriatic fjords, fortified Venetian towns, turquoise beaches and wild mountains. For a Cameroonian traveler, it's an affordable Mediterranean alternative, less crowded than neighboring Croatia, with a warm welcome and spectacular scenery. Kotor, nestled at the back of its fjord-like bay, is a UNESCO-listed medieval gem, while Budva charms with its beaches and Durmitor with its canyons. Good to know: the Montenegrin visa is relatively accessible, and a valid Schengen visa often waives the requirement entirely.

The visa, step by step
How to apply
Montenegro does not issue an e-visa: apply at the Montenegrin embassy or consulate covering Cameroon (often via a regional mission). Important: holders of a valid multiple-entry Schengen, US or UK visa can generally enter without a Montenegrin visa for a short stay.
Required documents
- Passport valid at least 6 months beyond the stay
- Application form and photos
- Accommodation booking and round-trip ticket
- Proof of sufficient funds
- Travel insurance
Good to know
- •A valid multiple-entry Schengen visa often waives the need for a separate Montenegrin visa: check before departure.
- •No e-visa: applications are made at a diplomatic mission.
- •Proof of accommodation and funds may be checked on arrival.
- •Tip: no visa for up to 30 days if you hold a valid Schengen, US, UK, Irish, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand or Japanese visa.
