Mali
Cultural cradle of the Sahel — but security is severely degraded: maximum caution.
Mali is one of Africa's great cultural cradles: the mud mosque of Djenné, Dogon cliffs and villages, the legend of Timbuktu, the same currency (CFA franc) as Cameroon and visa-free entry. But let's be clear: the security situation is severely degraded. All travel is currently formally advised against by most foreign offices due to terrorism and kidnappings; only Bamako remains relatively manageable, and even then with great caution. This guide is provided for information, not as an invitation to travel outside the capital.
The visa, step by step
How to apply

Good to know
- •The visa exemption is reciprocal (Cameroon ⇄ Mali) under bilateral agreements.
