Dominica
The Caribbean's Nature Island, raw and volcanic
Forget concrete resorts: Dominica is all rainforest, waterfalls, hot springs and some of the best diving in the Caribbean. An adventure and ecotourism escape, accessible without an advance visa for 21 days, but one requiring several stops and crossing transit countries.
The visa, step by step
How to apply
No advance visa. Entry is granted on arrival at Douglas-Charles airport (DOM) on presentation of your passport, a return ticket and proof of funds and accommodation. An electronic arrival form usually needs to be completed online before departure.
Required documents
- Passport valid at least 6 months
- Round-trip or onward flight ticket (mandatory)
- Proof of accommodation
- Proof of sufficient funds
- Electronic arrival form (check the official portal before departure)
Good to know
- •Cameroon has no formal exemption agreement: entry is granted as a 'bona fide tourist' holding a return ticket, at the officer's discretion. A return ticket and proof of funds are essential.
- •The real obstacle is not Dominica but the transit countries (Schengen, UK, USA), which require their own transit visas.
- •For stays beyond 21 days, an extension via Immigration in Roseau is required.
A one-week budget
Round-trip flight from Douala / Yaoundé
810 000 FCFA–1 800 000 FCFANo direct flight or single ticket. You first fly to Europe (Paris, Brussels, Istanbul) or the USA, then to a Caribbean hub (Antigua, Barbados or St. Lucia), before a short regional hop (Winair, interCaribbean, ~30-45 min) to Douglas-Charles (DOM). Expect 2 to 3 stops and 24 to 40 h+ total.
Indicative round-trip price: it varies widely by season, layover and how early you book.
