Congo - Brazzaville
The CEMAC neighbour: same CFA franc, same time zone, the Congo River in all its majesty.
Brazzaville, sitting on the bank of the majestic Congo River facing Kinshasa, is one of the easiest getaways for a Cameroonian: same CFA franc, same time zone, and CEMAC free movement that waives the visa. The capital, nicknamed 'Brazza the green', charms with its laid-back atmosphere, its ngandas (neighbourhood bistros) and an art scene born at the Poto-Poto painting school. With Congolese rumba in the air, spectacular waterfalls on the city's doorstep and the riverbank at sunset, Congo offers a gentle, brotherly change of scenery, less than two hours' flight from Douala.

A one-week budget
Round-trip flight from Douala / Yaoundé
336 000 FCFA–630 000 FCFADouala–Brazzaville usually with one stopover (Libreville, Pointe-Noire or Addis Ababa); allow ~2 to 4h door to door. Pointe-Noire is often better served. Flights and lodging are pricey (oil economy).
Indicative round-trip price: it varies widely by season, layover and how early you book.
