Brunei
The quiet kingdom of gold and rainforest
Tucked on the island of Borneo, Brunei is a tiny, oil-rich sultanate where golden mosques sit beside one of the planet's best-preserved rainforests. It is a peaceful, devout and alcohol-free destination that surprises with its cleanliness and serenity. For the Cameroonian traveler the contrast is striking: everything here is calm, orderly and safe. The capital Bandar Seri Begawan is home to the famous stilt village of Kampong Ayer, while the interior hides a jungle bursting with wildlife. An ideal stopover between two big Asian cities.
