Bahrain
A Gulf island of souks, ancient forts and Formula 1.
A small island linked by causeways to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain blends Gulf modernity with millennia-old heritage: the lively souks of Manama, a UNESCO-listed Dilmun fort, a majestic mosque and the famous Formula 1 circuit. More laid-back and compact than its neighbours, it's an easy, safe Middle Eastern stopover for a short trip.
